Happy New Year!

Welcome, 2009... I'm so glad you've finally arrived! 2008 was not very nice to so many of us.. We have high hopes for you, 2009. Don't worry though, it won't take a whole lot to be better than 2008.. Kind of like it's not going to take Obama a whole lot of effort to do a better job than Bush. So long as he doesn't do any catastrophic damage in the next four years, he may just avoid a mutiny.

Now, I'm not normally one for New Year's Resolutions.. but I do have a few things in mind that I'd like to accomplish with your help, 2009. Sure, there's the typical eat better, exercise more, drop that extra 20lbs.. yadda yadda yadda.. But I'd also like to publish my book. Yeah, I know.. a big feat. But I mean it. Even if I have to self-publish. Heck, I've got plenty of people lined up and waiting for a copy that it would be worth it, right? Right. I've also got my other 'usuals'.. like I'd like to keep my house in better shape.. and I'd like to do a better job of home schooling.. and I'd like to stick to a budget so our bank account can stop bleeding like a stuck pig. Someday, right? Right.

Anyhow, like I said, we're all so happy to see you 2009. We hope you like it here and decide to stay a while. You'd have to do something really horrific to make yourself worse than 2008, so your job shouldn't be too terribly hard. Please... be good to us?

See that awesome doodle up there? I snagged it from Rick's site, Organized Doodles. He is some kind of awesome and if you haven't checked him out yet, you should now! Now is actually the perfect time to check him out.. why? because he's having his annual giveaway! That's right, free stuff. Go. You're welcome.

Hey, CPM!

Yes, sometimes it is nice to have a low bar; we all need a slam dunk way to meet goals every now and then!

Blank slate, fresh mind, seeds in the ground come spring: I'm ready for it!

Happ New Year!

Setting the bar low is KEY! ...my '08 Resolution was to wear more striped socks and it was a raving success!

...in terms of publishing my book, I'm write, er, I mean, right there with you - I finished mine in 2007 and wrote the proposal in 2008 (I know, a little backwards) - it's been turned down twice and is currently sitting on the desk of the third (fingers crossed). If they say no, I'm just going to give up and resort to self-publishing through lulu or something. Blah. Why is the publishing game so, so hard?

This year I think I'll be resolved to wear more polka dot socks.

If you self publish and sell a bunch of copies to your friends you get two benefits. First, you keep more profit selling it yourself and second, publishers love it when half the work is done for them. If you can show them a book with some sales and some praise from papers and blogs they're more likely to bite.

And I really, really, really want to read it!!!

I'm one of those odd balls that loved 2008. I'm scared for 2009. I stand alone, just like the cheese, I guess. Isn't that how that old song goes? Anyway, I am cheering the loudest for you to get that book published. I think you are an amazing writer. Your writing won't be the issue. It's all about marketing yourself, or so I hear. Don't give up. You have an amazing talent!!!

I'm cheering waaaaay louder than Steenky Bee for you to get your book published. Heh. Way.

Happy New Year!!! I'm with you, 2008 can kiss it, as far as I'm concerned. My resolutions are low-bar, but scary: keep my house, feed my family, avoid living in my car...

I had a comment, but then I just noticed I have a chip in my front tooth. I freakin' hate that. Now I'll never stop playing with it.

SM: an easy act to follow for sure. ;)

IG: lowered expectations yield greater rewards? sure, why not! ;)

MD: and I hope yours is too, friend!

T5M: polka dot socks rock! I'm also partial to toe socks.. like gloves, for your feet!

Teri: may 2009 be so great we forget the SHIT that happened in 08! *HUG*

FM: I'm glad it wasn't a total wash for every one! But 09 will be even better. ;)

Mister: that was kind of my thinking too, it seems an easier way to go. and yes, these days the number one thing publishers are looking for is a good reader base.

SB: well, you certainly are cheesy. ;) market myself? does that mean I have to be a hooker too?? shit. not sure j will go for that... and don't worry, 2009 will be great for you too! remember? we get to meet each other! and i will hold you and squeeze you and love you and.. maybe even smack your butt! you know.. like wrestling coaches do to wrestlers? lol..

GF: awe, stop it! ya'll are makin' me blush.. and yeah, those sound like a lot of the goals we had last year! we did manage to (barely) keep the roof over our heads.. and that's good, because we did not manage to keep our (one) vehicle. but hey, we've got a house.. and food.. and j is still working! yay.

Captain: I'd be playing with it too... but you're in Canada, so I can't reach it. ;)

Kat: me too, honey.. me too. ;)
